Job Specifications

This is a highly exposed position where the future incumbent will get the opportunity to work with all the different departments in Atos Medical such as Marketing, Commercialization, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs and Manufacturing, etc. The responsibility for the team includes new product development from design, specification, prototyping, testing and preparation for manufacturing. The Head of Product development / R&D (f/m/x) will spend most of his time on leading, developing and motivating the individuals of the team.

Tasks:

• To lead a diverse team of 13 people including R&D Engineers (Senior and Associates), Design Control Specialists, Usability specialists, and one middle manager.
• To support and challenge your team in the technical matters.
• Be responsible for the HR processes, such as salary negotiations, people development, performance reviews etc.
• Be overall responsible of the technical file, from the R&D viewpoint, towards authorities in the case of audits.
• Contribute to the management team of Innovation (Global R&D in Atos Medical) with technical, leadership skills and a growth mindset.
• Stakeholder management to ensure the goo flow in the innovation projects (stakeholders within process Development, marketing, RA, etc).

The team is formed by R&D engineers that have a wide profile and today cover several aspects of the projects, Design Control and Usability specialist.

Qualifications:

Atos Medical is looking for a experienced Leader personality within the Medical Device industry. Most probably, the future incumbent has worked in R&D or another innovation-supporting area, has deep knowledge of the international standards and regulations of medical devices and has at least 5 years of experience leading people.

Even though our candidate made the choice to step away from the deep technical work a couple of years ago into a leadership position, he/she/x still feels confident in his technical knowledge. This is crucial for the position since the future incumbent will be having high impact throughout the organization and since our candidate will be leading and mentoring highly skilled, technical professionals in his own team.

Next to the technical expertise especially modern leadership skills, a “can-do” attitude and an agile mindset will be the key for success.

• Relevant education like a Bachelor’s- or Master’s degree in Engineering, Science or similar
• 5+ years of experience from Medical Device industry as a leader (preferably within R&D)
• Great communication skills and ability to build strong networks with colleagues and stakeholders internally and externally.
• Ability to prioritize and take decisions
• An understanding and interest in the business side of the company
• Fluency in English, both written and verbal
• Ability to work on site 3-4 days a week (Nieder-Olm)
