Technical Improvement Leader
Cartago, Costa Rica, CR
This is a permanent position to work in our Cartago site, located in Zona Franca La Lima.
Our Improvement Team Leader is the person responsible for leading all improvement engineering projects at CAR site. Among its main responsibilities we can highlight that this person will work together with a multidisciplinary group, quality, production, IT, OT, Ramp Up, Toolshop, etc. he/she will analyze the feasibility, cost, complexity, impact and other variables of all proposed project to determine the best approach to achieve the biggest benefit with the smallest investment of resources and money. Also, this person will review all designs, reviewing and analyze needs of the improvements team and will define all the priorities of the Designer to prioritize those project/tasks that require faster attention. The Improvements Team Leader will review all project documentation, before the hand over to the specific department (fully approved in EPDM) and a memory record among others.
Major areas of accountability
- Active participation in Lean activities.
- Represent the Local Operations Development team in all training tasks outside the country, if required.
- Continuously explore the possible machine improvements in order to increase performance, reduce scrap and downtime of the machines.
- Document all improvement opportunities and roll out all this information to all Coloplast Sites.
- In the absence of the local manager and / or Supervisor, has the right to make decisions and to take the necessary steps to ensure the continuity of production.
- Define and scope along with the improvement engineers all the improvement projects with a clear identification of stakeholders and deliverables.
- Guide all necessary initiatives to get the projects back on track when needed
- Review and guide all engineers during the risks analysis and make sure to define and follow all mitigation actions for all projects.
- Predict resources needed to reach objectives and manage resources in an effective and efficient manner
- Review all projects budget based on scope of work and resources requirements and provide the fix cost and capex plan for all forecasted projects.
- Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
- Develop and manage a detailed project schedule and work plan for all improvement projects of the department.
- Provide project updates on a consistent basis to all stakeholders to inform about the strategy, adjustments, and progress of all projects.
- Utilize industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout entire project execution
- Measure projects performance to identify areas for improvement
- Define and track the KPIs of all the improvement projects.
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
- Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors
- Make sure all procedures and policies are developed in a standard way, and they are easy to follow by Engineers, technicians and operators.
- Work with various teams to reduce process and business variations.
- Assist Managers in management for fix cost and capital projects.
Essential Qualifications
- University degree in Mechanical, Civil, Industrial, Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
- B2 English Level.
- Must have more than 5 years of work experience in related positions, including engineering improvement processes.
- Be able to read and interpret technical drawings (electrical, mechanical)
- Shown Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
- Proficient and knowledge use of AutoCad, Inventor and Solidworks.
- Familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices
Preferred Qualifications
- More than 10 years of experience on improvement processes.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- SixSigma certifications.
- Experience in medical Industry machinery and production processes.
- Microsoft Project proficiency
- Knowledge of EPDM or Inventor Vault.
