The Financial Analyst supports the organization’s financial operations through a combination of accounting support, budgeting, forecasting, and data-driven analysis. This role is responsible for assisting in month-end close activities, managing sales and use tax, preparing journal entries and reconciliations, supporting internal controls, and contributing to process improvements. Additionally, the position supports compliance efforts, audits, and special projects, while ensuring alignment with accounting principles and regulatory standards.

 

Main job responsibilities: 

  • Support financial accounting processes by assisting in the evaluation and improvement of workflows, systems, and procedures to ensure efficiency and compliance with accounting principles.
  • Participate in internal control assessments and contribute to the implementation of improvements to strengthen financial integrity.
  • Serve as a cross-functional resource by providing backup support for various accounting functions to ensure proper segregation of duties.
  • Maintain and update process documentation in accordance with organizational standards.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making, including variance analysis, trend analysis, and reconciliations.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of the annual budget and quarterly forecasts, including data collection, modeling, and variance tracking.
  • Support the preparation of internal financial reports and assist with policy development, updates, and compliance monitoring.
  • Collaborate with external auditors by preparing requested schedules and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable tax regulations (state, local, federal, and international), assisting with data and reporting as needed.
  •          Perform ad hoc financial analysis and modeling to support strategic initiatives and departmental goals.
  • Participate in special projects and cross-functional initiatives to improve financial operations and reporting capabilities.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in Accounting or Finance
  • 2+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and Financial Accounting Principles
  • Demonstrated experience with month-end close processes including journal entry and account reconciliations
  • Experience with sales and use tax across multiple states

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration
  • Previous experience within the Healthcare or Health insurance industry

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across teams while maintaining a high level of organization and attention to detail.
  • Strong judgment and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with internal stakeholders, cross-functional peers, external partners, and customers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced computer skills
  • Capable of independently managing end-to-end responsibilities, meeting project milestones, and delivering high-quality results within established timelines.
  • Excellent attention to detail and skilled at handling multiple priorities simultaneously, with the ability to effectively manage time and adjust to shifting demands.
  • Experience or strong technical competencies to use multiple difference platforms such as SAP and COGNOS
