Director of Sales - Ostomy

We have an exciting opportunity to join our UK Sales Leadership team in this newly created position of Director of Sales – Ostomy.  Reporting to the Senior Vice President, this role is responsible for driving high performance in the Ostomy business.  This role is responsible for developing the annual business plan, sales strategies and plans for the UK to deliver against sales targets.  The Sales Director will embrace our leadership promise and create a great place to work, which inspires and motivates everyone to deliver within the team.

 

This role will include regular travel, including frequent travel to our Head Office in Peterborough.

The Role:

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement the sales strategy to deliver against the sales targets across our Ostomy business ensuring consistency with our overall Chronic Care annual business plan
  • Work in partnership with the Sales Director for Continence Care ensuring consistent leadership for our chronic care sales teams
  • Lead through RBL’s field-based sales teams to ensure optimization of resources to achieve or exceed targets whilst optimizing synergies across the organization and exceeding customer expectations.  Maintain visible leadership with the field team
  • Coach, develop, and inspire direct reports
  • Be an expert within the Ostomy business, using your in-depth knowledge to ensure better initiatives for customers
  • Work alongside marketing and other business area colleagues to develop the strategy and plan for the Ostomy Business.  Implement agreed commercial plans through the sales team
  • Work closely with Commercial Excellence and RBL’s to ensure data quality enables effective targeting and segmentation
  • Drive the tender process, identification and delivery of the key strategic tenders
  • Develop key KOL and customer relationships including identifying selling opportunities and leading negotiations.  Manages and further develops relationships with KOLs through regular interaction, industry events, and personal communication
  • Together with the Senior Leadership team, Marketing Leadership Tteam and government affairs act as a liaison point and company ambassador with key customers and government organizations
  • Create and manage departmental budget
  • Work as integral member of the Senior Management Team
  • Develop and maintain fair, consistent and effective reward mechanisms (including bonus schemes) to deliver organisational growth targets
  • Recruit, coach, support, and develop managers whilst proactively managing succession to ensure we have a strong talent pipeline in the sales organisation
  • Ensure sales data quality is maintained including high professional utilisation of the CRM system as part of the sales process
  • Develop local payor strategies and high value projects in collaboration with the Strategic Sales Team, Marketing and Payers & Evidence and implement according to the plan
  • Analyse sales reports and data, coaching the RBL’s to proactively spot trends, opportunities and provide direction

The successful candidate will be a strong leader with a proven track record in sales management within the Life Sciences field and with experience of leading sales managers and sales teams.  Other experience required includes:

  • Experience of engaging with internal stakeholders and departments to build strong alignment around business cases, projects, and strategic direction
  • Successful experience of leading large Sales Teams, including second line management
  • Experience of leading sales teams within the life science industries  
  • Deep knowledge and experience of working with the NHS and the market dynamics
  • Natural desire to show commercial curiosity to deliver creative and proactive solutions to business opportunities 
  • Track record of successfully building long term relationships with customers and KOL’s
  • Experience of leading teams through change
  • Experience in setting commercial direction and building strong plans
  • Track record of gaining market share in a highly competitive environment
  • Knowledge of current and new industry trends, technologies and competitors
  • Contract Management experience and experience with working in partnership accounts in the Ostomy field or similar is preferred
  • Willingness and ability to travel Nationally, with regular travel to the Peterborough Head Office
  • Full Driving Licence
  • Knowledge of Ostomy care products is preferred
  • Degree qualified
