The Machine Technician is responsible for machine change-over, machine setup and adjustment, and production efficiency of manufacturing production machines. The Machine Technician is also responsible for cleaning and sanitizing the production machines to ensure product quality in subsequent production runs.

 

The Machine Technician is also responsible for preventive maintenance tasks assigned by their supervisor and/or maintenance-responsible and is responsible for supporting continuous improvement projects in collaboration with Engineering. The Machine Technician II will also assist the team lead in training new Machine Technicians, or training Machine Technicians that are learning new production lines.

  • Major Areas of Accountability
    • Works as a member of the Machine Technician team to ensure production machines are operating properly and efficiently.
    • Executing assigned work, from the team lead or supervisor, accurately, efficiently, and completely. Takes ownership of assigned production lines to ensure production is effective
    • Documenting activities in an accurate and timely manner
    • Assisting the other Machine Technician team members when time permits to support and ensure the team’s success
    • Report all mechanical issues to the Engineering or Maintenance department
    • Maintain good housekeeping practices
    • Ensure processes and documentation are followed to ensure adherence with regulation and company procedures.
  • Essential Qualifications
    • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
    • Ability to read, analyze, interpret and implement department procedures.
    • Must lead by example and demonstrate professionalism
    • Must set and follow through with behavioral expectations
    • Must pass skill and knowledge onto other team members
  • Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
    • Ability to effectively interact with various internal and external customers/ vendors
    • Attention to detail and ability to follow up on previous work
    • Must work well independently and be adaptable/flexible with team members
    • Basic computer, organization, and math skills
    • Listening- practices attentive and active listening; has the patience to hear people out; can accurately restate the opinions of others even when he/she disagrees. Convey a positive and professional image to internal and external customers
    • Must be able to lift, push, or pull 50 pounds periodically and lift a minimum 25lbs regularly
    • Must be able to stand, kneel or squat for extended periods of time, climb ladders, work at elevated heights, and reach above shoulder level
    • Must have good working knowledge of the production equipment concepts, provide basic troubleshooting, complete training tasks, and provide feedback for continuous improvement. Able to operate power and hand tools
    • Participate in departmental tasks and process procedure to ensure the department is meeting the objectives of the organization. Provides departmental assistance to the team lead
