Field Clinical Specialist

This position is a member of the clinical research team supporting clinical trial activities. The Field Clinical Representative is responsible for covering surgical cases for clinical trials and supports the customer with any follow-up, troubleshooting, customer service, education, and clinical trial data collection.  This position serves as a technical resource between engineering, clinical research, and the medical community.  

 

Primary tasks include case coverage, attending patient clinic visits, clinical education, data collection oversight, assisting clinical study sites with device accountability, and facilitating communication between appropriate site staff/investigators clinical management team.  This position requires self-motivation, good problem-solving skills, good organizational skills, and ability to prioritize.  The Field Clinical Representative represents Coloplast during physician visits. 

 

Major Areas of Accountability

  • Provides clinical support to clinical study sites in the areas of implant procedure, basic troubleshooting, programming, and complaint reporting
  • May be present in operating room during clinical procedures as well as physician office to facilitate patient testing and data collection
  • Serves as the technical resource between engineering and the medical community
  • Participates in the development of clinical study materials and product training
  • Responsible for assisting investigators in product use
  • Provides assistance for Clinical Research Studies by providing training, and ensuring quality data collection.
  • Develops expertise in investigational and market-released products and functions as a local technical/clinical resource
  • Accountable for developing and leveraging relationships in the field to drive clinical activity and maintain focus on the customer
  • Provides feedback from clinical sites on the performance of the product to be incorporated in engineering designs or product enhancements
  • Maintains all required Vendor Credentialing requirements with assigned medical facilities
  • Interacts frequently with Health Care Professionals including surgeons, doctors, nurses, technicians, procurement, inventory control, administrative staff and related personnel
  • Present during procedures and surgeries as requested/ required to assist healthcare professionals with Coloplast product related questions – interaction includes following operating room protocols, but does not include crossing the sterile field or patient interactions
  • Conform with Coloplast Code of Conduct and all local Compliance Standards
  • Conform with Coloplast Q/EHS Policy
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Essential Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in clinical research/clinical engineer within the healthcare industry, preferably with medical devices
  • GCP Knowledge/Knowledge of US regulatory requirements for trial related activities
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably in health science areas)
  • Ability to be on time and prepared for each case deployed – every time
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and overnight (up to 50%)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong relationship and consultative selling skills
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Strong analytical, oral and written communication skills
  • High attention for detail and excellent follow through
  • Ability to work independently
  • Demonstrate effective time management skills and administrative capabilities
  • Ability to adapt and willingness to change
  • Ability to consistently work, manage and lead with ethical integrity
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to listen, articulate and advocate
