Receiver 3rd Shift

Loads, unloads and moves materials within or near the distribution center by performing the following duties.

 

Major Areas of Accountability:

  • Unload incoming shipments from delivery trucks/sea containers
  • Verifies the accuracy of materials being received
  • Inspects shipments for any damage to product
  • Receives and distributes UPS shipments
  • Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, racks and shelves by hand
  • Reads work orders or follows oral instructions to ascertain material to be moved
  • Loads materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit
  • Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, pallets or other containers
  • Replenishes stock in picking locations
  • Help maintain and organize overstock
  • Safely operate lift truck, pallet rider, W.A.V. (work assist vehicle), and/or pallet jack
  • Proper handling of special instructions/orders
  • Clean and maintain receiving area for the health and safety of employees
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Essential Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to read and comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and routine reports
  • Ability to speak effectively and present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and employees of the operation
  • Basic knowledge of RF scanner application
  • Ability to comprehend work instructions given in English
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus 
  • May be required to work weekends              

 

 

Environmental, Health and Safety Responsibilities:

  • Enforce all company Environment, Health, and Safety policies.
  • Ensure employees are properly trained.
  • Provide detailed instructions for job performance and explain hazards and safety precautions in assigning employees to a task.
  • Plan the work to be certain that employees, material and equipment are available to perform task safely.
  • Promptly report all incidents in area(s) of responsibility.
  • Conduct effective accident investigations immediately after they occur and implement effective corrective actions to ensure that the accident does not reoccur.
  • Ensure injured employees receive proper first aid and/or medical treatment.
  • Follow-up on all safety related deficiencies to ensure corrective action has been completed.
  • Actively support and promote Environment, Health, and Safety activities within the organization.
