This is a permanent position to work in our Cartago site, located in Zona Franca La Lima. Medical insurance, asociation, gym, cafeteria subsidy, free transportation and other, are part of our benefits package. 

Job Function Summary:
The Shipping Specialist manages specialized customs clearance activities related to Free Trade Zone companies in our Cartago Site. All import and export activities are coordinated by this position and has to develop and work with a vast network of stakeholders (i.e. custom brokers, shipping companies, planners, receiving subsidiaries, among others). 

Major Areas of Accountability:

Import activities.
•    Receive information from suppliers regarding shipments.
•    Coordinate with warehouse coordinator dates to schedule containers arrival.
•    Coordinate with the Freight Forwarder and Custom Broker the loads.
•    Follow up daily for possible delays that can affect the supply of materials. Close collaboration and coordination with the Material Planner is expected.
•    Close transits in TICA system and ensure that documentation is correct.

Shipping activities.
•    Coordinate with warehouse personnel the preparation of pallets.
•    Determine based on the production plan the shipping schedule for the next 4 weeks.
•    Follow up daily on the production volume to control when full container loads will be ready. 
•    Invoice the shipments in the system. 
•    Coordinate with the Freight Forwarder when to load the containers. 
•    Follow up on each shipment and update the system with new/changed ETAs. 
•    Responsible to open/close transits in TICA.

Customs
•    Responsible for all communication to Government Customs area. 
•    Responsible to review and create reports that are relevant for the correct follow up.
•    Close contact with shipping about arrivals

Alusta - invoice handling    
•    Coding and Acceptance of invoices related to freight forwarders and/or custom brokers.
•    Support for Finance for discrepancies 
•    Control rates charged by freight forwarders and custom brokers.

Responsible for:
•    Performing their job in compliance with the guidelines given
•    Drawing attention to the manager to any difficulties in understanding or following the guidelines
•    Drawing attention to inefficiency of the system
•    Take responsibility for those safety aspects identified for the given position
•    Support positive EHS culture


Essential Qualifications:
•    Bachelor Degree in Customs Admiistration, International trade or Business Management or equivalent
•    3- 5 years experience in import/export
•    Proficient english level B2Plus
•    Must have manufacturing environment related experience
•    MS Office knowledge 

Prefer qualifications:
•    Experience in medical devices company is a plus
•    Six Sigma or Lean certification is a plus
•    3 - 5 years experience in Customs and Shipping similar roles
•    APICS is a plus
