Mechanical Specialist Technician

We are looking for a Mechanical Specialist Technician responsible of the correct dismantling, installation and run in of all Coloplast Equipment, including test equipment and all related equipment to run production, also responsible of documenting the dismantling process of the machines and follow the correct installation procedures.

The Mechanical Specialist will focus on all mechanical related issues and will provide support in different Value Streams activities (improvements, root cause analysis, etc) in order to provide a quick solution and guidance to solve any issue.

It will work closely with Improvement Engineer in order to perform all machines mechanical upgrades and improvements.


You will be a part of a growing Operations Development team, as Coloplast is in the process of establishing a world-class manufacturing site in Cartago, Costa Rica. The ideal candidate is a reliable and competent professional, preferable with experience in manufacturing and medical device industry. Initially, you will be supporting the Cartago site, and have a close collaboration with Hungary and Denmark.


You will report to Head of Operations Development Coloplast Costa Rica Volume Manufacturing Site, Cartago. 


Tasks & responsibilities


  • Identify and solve basic power related machine issues
  • Able to read and interpret mechanical drawings.
  • Able to use the CAD software Inventor or Solidworks or Autocad.
  • Able to perform the upgrade of obsolete components on a complex mechanical system.
  • Identify and solves complex mechanical alignment issues, leveling, alignment, verification.
  • Able to use and read properly all mechanical measuring equipment (including High precision tools)
  • Able to interpret all pneumatical diagrams bases on Festo, SMC, PIAB and vacuum systems.
  • Able to use Festos’s FluidDraw software to read pneumatical diagrams.
  • Performs the upgrade of obsolete parts in a pneumatic and vacuum system.
  • Identify and solves all pneumatical and vacuum issues
  • Propose maintenance routines and execute them easily.
  • Able to interpret and read hydraulics diagrams
  • Performs the upgrade of obsolete hydraulic components
  • Identify and solves hydraulic issues
  • Participate actively in the technical assessment of the machines (machine knowledge, maintenance, machine documentation)
  • Participate on improvement projects to increase productivity or availability and reduce scrap or downtime.
  • Proper care and replacement of spare parts
  • Performing their job in compliance with the guidelines given
  • Drawing attention to the manager to any difficulties in understanding or following the guidelines
  • Drawing attention to inefficiency of the system




  • Have relevant technical education within mechanical and/or electrical area.

  • Have 1-2 years of work experience in related positions

  • Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Be able to read and interpret technical drawings (electrical, mechanical)

  • Be able to share knowledge onto other team members

  • Be able to read, analyze, interpret, and implement department procedures.

  • Shown Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Show basic understanding of PLC programming knowledge in Allen Bradley or Omron or Siemens

  • Live and reflect the values of closeness, passion, respect and responsibility.

  • English Level: B1 – Communicational level (base on the scale of the Common European Framework)

  • Knowledge in AutoCad, EPDM, Inventor Vault

  • Knowledge of Medical Industry machinery and production processes.

  • Knowledge on machine transfers oversea.

  • Knowledge on interpretation of pneumatic and hydraulic diagrams

  • Experience on regulated industries and industrial automated machine maintenance
