EHS Engineer

Job Function Summary:
The EHS Engineer is responsible for making a safe and sustainable work environment at Coloplast CAR production site, and meet the health and safety needs of the task force. Junior EHS engineer is accountable for LTI (Lost time Incident) rate matches the goal required by Coloplast, and make sure CAR site environment is in a safe condition to work, provide all support needed to different departments of CAR regarding EHS as well. Also responsible for EHS system tracking and support the Senior EHS engineer.
Major Areas of Accountability:
- Track LTI (Lost Time Incident) rate and implement activities to achieve the CAR site LTI goal.
- Represent EHS in Production Gemba Meetings and ensure compliance in responsible areas.
- Maintain and update ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 documentation, ensuring validity and compliance.
- Conduct EHS audits and regular site inspections, addressing hazardous conditions and unsafe behaviors.
- Register NCRs (Non-Conformity Reports) and Near-misses, initiating corrective and preventive actions.
- Organize and conduct EHS training programs for employees at all organizational levels.
- Investigate root causes of accidents and near-misses, implementing preventive measures.
- Develop, update, and enforce EHS procedures and work instructions in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Manage safety brigade activities, ensuring training, equipment availability, and operational readiness.
- Lead EHS risk assessments in assigned areas to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Approve new equipment for EHS compliance and assess existing units/processes to ensure safe operations.
- Evaluate workplace ergonomics to identify and implement safety improvements.
- Prepare and update mandatory EHS reports, including statistics and data for corporate EHS offices.
- Approve work permits for internal and external workers, ensuring compliance with site safety requirements.
- Perform EHS machine safety approvals and conduct environmental readings (noise, air pollution, etc.).
- Participate in internal audits and manage audit-related documentation for compliance verification.
- Develop and maintain EHS communication strategies, ensuring awareness and adherence to safety policies.
- Coordinate CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) and Change Control System activities related to EHS.
- Ensure fire system compliance with FM Global and local fire department regulations, tracking inspections and documentation.
- Supervise contractors’ work to ensure safe execution, proper work permit completion, and adherence to EHS procedures.
Responsible for:
- Performing their job in compliance with the guidelines given
- Drawing attention to the manager to any difficulties in understanding or following the guidelines
- Drawing attention to inefficiency of the system
- Take responsibility for those safety aspects identified for the given position
- Support the positive EHS culture
- Responsible for driving local implementation of the EHS system
Essential Qualifications:
- BSc/BA, degree in environmental engineering, occupational health engineering or related qualification in engineering or relevant field.
- Minimum experience of 2 years.
- Basic knowledge of ISO systems (ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
- Experience in manufacturing device industry
- Intermediate Knowledge of MS Office
- English level B2.
Prefer Qualifications:
- Familiarity with quality standards and regulated industry.
- English level B2+
- Experience in medical device industry.
