Senior Accountant 

Coloplast has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Accountant to join our growing team!

Do you possess superior partnership and coordination skills?  Coloplast is offering a unique and exciting opportunity to take responsibility for the tax and general ledger activities for North America.. This position is responsible for timely and accurate accounting functions, including but not limited to sales & use tax, income tax and other related filings coordination, transfer pricing, control framework ownership, and other general accounting tasks. As the Sr. Accountant, you will work in a talented and dynamic team environment with an opportunity to partner cross functionally across Coloplast globally.

 

Major Areas of Accountability

Areas of responsibilities:

Major functions are described below. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Independently manage sales and use tax filings for all North America, including US, Canada and dealer business
  • Monitor state / province sales and use tax rule changes and perform research as needed, update sales tax tool accordingly. 
  • Partner with external tax firms to ensure proper accounting reporting and tax filings occur each period
  • Internal contact for any external state or federal audit pertaining to tax or income filings
  • Coordinate and oversee tasks assigned to the North America subsidiary by global team
  • Actively participate in the month-end close process, generate and review journal entries, and preparation of monthly financial reports and reconciliations in accordance with policies.
  • Provide support and guidance to the accounting team as it relates to general accounting practices
  • Partner with the Business Center (CoE) in Poland on questions relating to accruals, reconciliations, and overall maintenance of balance sheet. 
  • Assist the contracting team and accounts receivable team on questions related to customer tax, as needed
  • Own the internal audits for North America, being the single point of contact for the audit team including coordination of workpapers, facilitating meetings, etc.
  • Provide support to the organization through tax projects requiring analysis (i.e. meals & entertainment)

 

Basic Qualifications

 

  • 3 years of accounting experience, including experience leading or coordinating projects
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related degree
  • Must be self-motivated with an energetic, results-orientated and customer focused style coupled with a strong accounting background and desire to determine the root cause of issues.
  • Must be able to work independently and be comfortable with situations which require decision making and collaboration.
  • Possess a high-energy level and strong work ethic with a commitment to continuous improvement, sense of personal responsibility for work outcomes and personal commitment to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated skills of business partnering skills and ability to influence others
  • Previous experience supported by a strong track record of success in responsibilities for general ledger accounting, tax and control functions
  • Experience with sales and use tax accounting
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills required
