We have an exciting opportunity within our Finance Team for a Finance Manager based within our Head Office in Peterborough.

The Role

The Finance Manager will be responsible for all day to day, month end and year end requirements of the financial accounting function within the busy Finance department, reporting to the Head of Finance.  The role holder will also be responsible for meeting Danish Group reporting, audit, tax and statutory deadlines.


The position has formal line manager responsibility for a Senior Finance Assistant and a Finance Assistant.


The key responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Responsible for accurate production and submission of monthly P&L and balance sheet financial accounts to agreed Corporate deadlines
  • Production of financial performance material for submission to Corporate and internal senior management
  • Authorisation of monthly journals and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Responsible for ensuring an effective internal audit and process control environment, maintaining robust financial controls
  • Responsible for management and co-ordination of the Company’s interim and annual audits, both external and internal
  • Production of the annual statutory accounts.  This will include building effective relationships with external bodies and advisors
  • Ensure accurate reporting and compliance of all taxes including VAT, CIT, PSA returns and internal tax controls through our internal tax controls framework
  • Working capital management including debtor days
  • Provide financial support where needed for commercial and strategic decisions, adding value to the financial integrity of the business
  • Provide consistent support, reliable advice and timely, accurate management information to the Head of Finance and the Business Support Director, contributing positively to the business debate
  • Mentor direct reports to empower and encourage their development
  • Support and drive initiatives in relation to constant improvements of policies, procedures and controls
  • Conduct a wide range of ad-hoc projects


Applicants must hold a Professional accountancy qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA Qualified) or equivalent experience, and will be able to demonstrate good MS Excel abilities.  The role holder must be very organised in their approach, able to prioritise and meet deadlines, whilst displaying an exceptional level of attention to detail.  Within the role there will be a requirement for strong financial accounting expertise, an analytical mind with an ability to work cross functionally at all levels in a respectful and pro-active manner.  The role holder must be self-motivated, with the ability to plan and work effectively using their own initiative and have a continuous improvement mindset.  Experience of leading a small team would also be desirable.
