People Operations & Rewards Partner

The People Operations & Rewards Partner plays a key role in delivering a high-quality employee experience by supporting our benefits programs. This role is responsible for day-to-day benefits administration, data accuracy, compliance support, and analytical insights that help optimize our rewards offerings. The People Operations & Rewards Partner will collaborate closely across the broader People Operations & Rewards function, contributing to cross-functional projects, operational excellence, and cohesive employee experience.
Major Areas of Accountability
Benefits Administration
- Manage US and Canada employee benefits programs (medical, dental, vision, retirement, etc.) with accuracy and timeliness.
- Responsible for annual open enrollment, including system configuration, testing, employee communication, and vendor coordination.
- Interpret benefit plan provisions and policies to advise employees and internal partners on eligibility, coverage, and compliance requirements.
- Process benefits changes, enrollments, and qualifying life event requests.
- Responsible for resolving employee benefit issues and escalating or recommending process changes as needed.
Data & Systems
- Maintain benefits data integrity across HRIS, vendor platforms, and payroll systems using analytical skills to identify discrepancies and take corrective actions.
- Conduct audits, reconciliations, and invoice reviews, independently determining steps required to resolve variances.
- Monitor and troubleshoot HRIS and vendor file-feed errors, advising internal stakeholders on root causes and solutions.
- Manage and validate biweekly eligibility and enrollment file uploads to downstream benefit vendors, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
- Collaborate with Payroll to ensure accurate benefit deductions and partner with Finance on cost tracking and forecasting inputs.
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, IRS/DOL requirements, provincial/territorial legislation in Canada, and internal audit standards.
- Support required filings and reporting (e.g., 5500s, nondiscrimination testing, ACA reporting, provincial reporting).
- Maintain up-to-date plan documentation, SPDs, policies, and procedure guides.
- Recommend process enhancements to strengthen internal controls and compliance practices.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Act as collaborative partner within the People Operations & Rewards team, contributing to cross-functional initiatives.
- Contribute to team planning cycles, process reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for enhanced efficiency and employee experience.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 1-3 years of experience in benefits administration
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and spot trends.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in interpreting policies, resolving issues, and recommending process improvements.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Commitment to teamwork and a collaborative mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with benefits compliance (ERISA, COBRA, ACA, HIPAA).
- Experience working with brokers, carriers, or third-party administrators.
- Experience in a multi-state employer environment with varying regulations.
- Knowledge of benefits plan design, renewal cycles, and vendor performance management.

- Competitive Compensation: The compensation range for this position is $77,000 - $116,000. Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location. Hired candidates may be eligible to receive additional compensation in the form of bonuses and/or incentives.
