Intern - Packaging Engineer

The R&D Packaging Engineer Intern will be assist in performing original packaging design and testing over a broad range of technologies to provide new or improved products to the medical device market in the arena of Interventional Urology. This person will act as technical support for interdepartmental development teams to fulfill business goals of Coloplast for new and existing product packaging and labeling.

 

Major Areas of Accountability:

  • Complete relevant tasks to fulfill major milestones, identifying processing parameters, materials, equipment, and requirements of new product packaging/labeling and initial process optimization
  • Specify, design, verify and validate packaging in accordance with applicable medical regulatory standards
  • Perform original design, under guidance of project engineers/scientists, developing packaging specifications, conduct DOEs, validation protocols/reports and other associated documentation following design control requirements
  • Coordinate and execute packaging and labeling changes in support of Sustaining projects
  • Participate in hands-on problem solving and resolution
  • Obtain and maintain all necessary information and experimental test results related to assigned projects by various means of recording

Basic Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a BS in Packaging Engineering
  • Undergraduate student (completed junior level or higher) with successful completion of basic engineering course work.
  • Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Working knowledge of packaging equipment
  • Working knowledge of packaging material and supplier processes
  • Able to develop test protocols and synthesize data to write test reports based on observed data, relevant test standards and general engineering knowledge
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis (e.g. two-sample t-test, tolerance limit calculation)

  • Knowledge of basic engineering concepts and principles 
  • Ability to work independently and to be a technical assist on group projects
  • Ability to take verbal instructions and translate them into goals and objectives
  • Good written and verbal communication
