Neuro Bladder & Bowel Nurse Specialist
University College Hospital London, National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery Queens Square, and Community
We’re looking for a skilled, patient-focused Registered Nurse to join our team as a Neuro Bladder & Bowel Nurse Specialist. This is a great opportunity to play a key role in delivering and shaping a specialist continence service within a high-performing, patient-centred organisation. Whether you’re already working in continence care or looking to further develop your expertise, this role offers the chance to make a meaningful difference while supporting service development and clinical excellence.
The Role
In this role, you will be responsible for delivering a specialist Neurogenic Bladder and Bowel service in line with agreed clinical pathways, managing a varied caseload across hospital, community, and home settings. You’ll use your clinical judgement to assess and manage acute and chronic continence conditions, supporting patients, carers, and healthcare professionals with interventions such as intermittent self-catheterisation and anal irrigation alongside wider treatment approaches.
You will also contribute to the continued development of the service through clinical governance, audit, and evaluation activity, monitoring outcomes and identifying opportunities for improvement. Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, you’ll build strong relationships across healthcare settings, deliver education, and help ensure a high-quality, joined-up approach to patient care.
Who Are We Looking For?
We’re looking for a confident and compassionate Registered Nurse with strong organisational and communication skills and a passion for delivering high-quality care. You will have clinical experience in bladder and bowel management, including catheterisation, alongside a strong understanding of neurological conditions such as spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis (MS), and other neurogenic disorders.
You will be comfortable working autonomously, managing your own caseload, and building effective relationships with patients, carers, and healthcare professionals. A nursing degree and current NMC registration are essential, and experience in teaching, service development, or advanced clinical practice would be advantageous.
