Job Family:  Research & Development
Country/Region:  Denmark

Senior Scientist

R&D Senior Polymer Scientist for Materials department

Do you want to make a genuine difference for people with intimate health care needs? And can you utilise your scientific expertise within materials - and especially foam - to make this happen?

At Coloplast, we are market leaders, which enables us to make innovative products and test new methods that push the boundaries of our industries – we hope that you will join us in doing so.

Join a highly specialised and devoted team of scientists
Based out of our headquarters in Humlebæk, you will join our Materials department that supports our entire R&D organisation with test and development of new materials. Your new department consists of 32 specialists, counting both scientists and laboratory technicians. We work in projects teams that also include people from e.g. Regulatory Affairs, Production and Procurement.

Our corner of Coloplast is very diverse and has a truly open culture – we also have a strong focus on personal development and a great work environment that is flexible to a degree that makes sense.

Deep dive into hydrophilic foam in project teams
As our new senior scientist, you will be allocated into projects where hydrophilic foams are used. You will be working on one or two projects at a time, each usually running 3-5 years depending on the scope. For each project, you will be paired up with a laboratory technician from your team, though you will interact with a number of, mostly internal, stakeholders along the way.

Specific areas include:

  • Selecting materials and ensuring that they perform optimally according to purpose
  • Participating in the development of new test methods to ensure that our materials live up to the requirements and are stable – also after being exposed to varying temperatures and sterilisation
  • Conduction of ongoing project documentation
  • Communication and coordination internally with the project team – including sharing updates and progress with e.g. Production to ensure coherence
  • Occasional interacting with suppliers

“This role is an excellent chance to become part of a market-leading company working with innovative material solutions – and all that to make life easier for people with very personal and private medical conditions,” says Team Manager, Hydrophilic Polymers, Johannes Daprà.

Expertise in hydrophilic foams in combination with stakeholder skills
As a great stakeholder manager and communicator, you thrive when working in project teams, and you are able to cooperate with and convey your professional findings to people who are not experts in this exact area. Also, you are highly motivated to work with products that make a difference in the world.

Moreover, we imagine that you have:

  • A master’s degree (or a PhD) in a relevant scientific area, e.g. chemistry or material sciences, but we are open to other specialties
  • Solid (+5 years) R&D experience - it is a further advantage if your experience includes working with hydrophilic foams (e.g. PU)
  • Experience working with polymer chemistry and material science – most likely in regard to medical devices or pharma products
  • Preferred experience with development of sustainable materials
  • A strong proficiency in English

If you would like to know more about the position, please call Team Manager, Hydrophilic Polymers, Johannes Daprà on +45 4911 3357. We will take candidates into the recruitment process continuously, so do not hesitate to apply. This position will remain open until a suitable candidate has been found.
