Senior Human Body Simulation Engineer
Humlebæk, DK

Are you interested in applying and exploring state-of-the-art simulation tools to continuously improve our understanding of how our products interact with the human body and to create new and future designs? Will you strive to grow and develop our simulation team to be an even more competent and inspiring place to work? We offer a unique opportunity to develop simulations in Coloplast.
About the department
When joining Coloplast you will enter a global company that offers great challenges, opportunities, and rewards. The new Coloplast products are designed by Product Design & Engineering, consisting of a versatile group of ambitious people working in four departments: Design, Usability Engineering, Material Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.
You will join the department of Mechanical Engineering, where you will be part of a dedicated Simulation team to provide development projects with new insight, guidance, and recommendations.
The job
You will work closely with your colleagues in the Simulation team, Mechanical Design Engineers, Pre-Clinical Scientists, and key stakeholders within R&D in developing innovative products. You will focus on the human body aspect of the development process and strengthen our understanding of human body interaction related to tissue and soft matter. In close collaboration with the Pre-Clinical Scientists you will assess and provide input to new designs, while in other cases, you will build simulation models of biomedical interactions to the Pre-Clinical team. We take a practical approach to problem-solving, e.g., using simplified linear models for optimization and decision-making early design phase, while non-linear models and complex interactions with biological tissue come into play in detailed studies. In all our work, testing and improving predictions and methods are crucial.
Communicating your findings in a simple and actionable manner is vital to succeeding in the job. Our strategy for Product Design & Engineering strongly focuses on simulation, and we want to expand our capabilities to an even higher level and use numerical analysis more actively in developing new products. As Senior Human Body Simulation Engineer you will play an important role in defining and implementing our strategy for the Simulation team in the coming years.
Your key responsibilities are:
- Translate key insight from Pre-Clinical regarding biomechanics of tissue into simulation models.
- Develop simulation models of relevant tissue and soft matter for material evaluation .
- Conduct both simple and advanced analysis as input to various development projects.
- Present data-driven design recommendations to the development projects based on your analysis.
- Take part in the future development of the internal processes in the Simulation team and Mechanical team.
- Be an integral part of building our model and material library.
- Coaching and supporting team members.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate for the job possesses the following qualifications:
- Proven skills within simulations with 5-10+ years of experience.
- Master of Science in Engineering or Natural Sciences with specialization in simulation of biomechanics of tissue, Mathematical modelling, and numerical analysis or similar.
- Proven knowledge of simulation of biological tissue and preferably also the Finite Element Method (FEM), and a skilled user of one of the commonly used simulation software.
- Proven knowledge of development processes.
- Experience with interdisciplinary teamwork.
- Experience with building simulation capabilities in an R&D organization.
You most likely have a background in consultancy, food, medico, pharma, health care, or academia. We produce products in the millions and early attention to details has a great business impact. We value honesty and open feedback and are looking for an ambitious team player. If you are good at what you do, able to communicate your findings clearly and guide and inspire the Simulation team, this position will suit you.
