Senior "Design for Manufacturing" Engineer

About the department
You will join the department of Engineering Analysis in R&D, where you will team up with highly skilled specialist within Design for Manufacturing, numerical simulations, Six Sigma and statistics. Engineering Analysis ongoing development projects with specialist knowledge and guidance.


The job
You will work directly in two to three  development projects of medical devices. Ensuring manufacturability in a new medical device is a team effort where you will play a key role in succeeding with. Inside projects you will have a close collaboration with the technical Project Managers and, Pilot production specialists, Volume sites, Material Technology, Injection Moulding engineers etc. Your key responsibilities will be :

  • Ensure focus on Design for Manufacturing from early concepting until specifications are locked in development projects.
  • Create transparency for management on design and manufacturing issues and their implications in development projects.
  • Train and support the organization with understanding Design for Manufacturing.
  • Deep dive into technical topics to improve manufacturability.
  • Push for requirement specifications.
  • Facilitate design reviews and Design for Manufacturing workshops. 
  • Develop and implement Design for Manufacturing tools and methodologies.


Qualifications
The ideal candidate for the job possesses several of the following qualifications:

  • Experience in binding product development together with manufacturing in departments like: Transfer to Manufacturing, New Product Introduction, Pilot Production or alike.
  • Great interpersonal skills and being able to handle being in the spotlight while challenging the conventions. 
  • Understanding and experience with volume production is an advantage.
  • B.Sc./M.Sc. within Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Process Engineering or similar.


You need to be able to foresee production issues early in the project phases and pay attention to critical design details. We produce products in the millions and early attention to manufacturability has a high business impact.
