Polymer Specialist for Materials department

Humlebæk, DK

Job Family:  Research & Development
Country/Region:  Denmark
Polymer Specialist for Materials department

Ready to step into the role of principal scientist and use your vast knowledge of polymer chemistry to explore and challenge the realm of sustainable material solutions?

This is your chance to take centre stage in the development of new and more sustainable material solutions for our intimate health care products and packaging. Join us to help us reach our ambitions for sustainable material solutions by defining and setting realistic parameters for the materials in our development projects.

Join a team of dedicated material specialists and technicians
At our HQ in Humlebæk, you will join 25 experienced colleagues in our Material Engineering department. The department consists of 3 teams dedicated to the development of material solutions for our products and packaging.

The teams work together cross-functionally on a wide range of development projects. You will be one of our principal scientists, responsible for defining the sustainability targets related to the material solutions in these projects, and you will report directly to the Director of Material Engineering.

“We have a huge stake in the Coloplast sustainability agenda as we are the ones who ensure material solutions are available. This could mean developing these from scratch through collaboration with external partners, and this where you will play a key role,” explains Director of Material Engineering Charlotte Juel Fristrup.

Set the parameters for our material development
In this newly established position, your main goal will be to set up a tool within the Material Engineering department which can be used by the material specialists to evaluate the environmental impact of specific material grades in the material development and selection process.

Doing so, you get to use your specialist knowledge of measurements, evaluation and calculations – not as part of a specific project but rather as a vital part of the department’s knowledge centre.

Moreover, you will drive collaboration with external partners to ensure that we have access to the technologies needed to develop new sustainable material solutions. Working cross-functionally, you will interact with colleagues in R&D, Project Management, the Sustainability team and the
Commercial team.

Polymer specialist with knowledge of medical devices
With your excellent interpersonal skills, you navigate with ease among the many internal and external stakeholders. Likewise, you master the art of communicating complex and technically challenging information in a manner that can be understood by non-specialists.

Moreover, you have:

  • An MSc in chemical engineering or chemistry and are specialised in polymer chemistry
  • 10+ years of experience with developing and selecting materials, especially polymers for medical devices
  • Knowledge of biobased polymers and recycled polymers, giving you insights into their application in medical devices as a product and/or packaging solution
  • Hands-on experience with the tools necessary to assess the environmental impact and recyclability of different material solutions
  • R&D experience as well as experience working with external partners such as material suppliers, universities, and technical service institutes

If you would like to know more about the position, please call Director of Material Engineering Charlotte Juel Fristrup on +45 4911 2922. We will take candidates into the recruitment process continuously, so do not hesitate to apply. This position will remain open until a suitable candidate has been found.
