Are you interested in using state-of-the-art simulation tools to continuously improve the understanding of our products and to improve their design? Will you strive to grow and develop our simulation team to be an even more competent and inspiring place to work? We offer a unique opportunity to develop simulations in Coloplast.

In 1957 Elise Sørensen came up with the idea of the Ostomy bag, driven by urge to make life better for people with a specific intimate healthcare problem. Today, 68 years later Coloplast serves more than 2.000.000 people around the globe with vital products for daily usage.

R&D is where all new product innovations are shaped for success, defined, developed and delivered for manufacturing in millions of products for centuries.

Product Design and Engineering, is the creative and scientific powerhouse of R&D our designers, engineers and scientist, co create products and solutions for targeted user segments and various intimate healthcare conditions.

You will become a part of Mechanical Engineering where functional & robust design ensure the quality of mechanical specifications and design documentation.

We use state-of-the-art tools, and processes and aim for best practices in our work.We are the voice of mechanical engineering in the R&D organization and beyond.
More specifically you will be working In the Simulation team.

The job
You will work closely with your colleagues in the Simulation team, Mechanical Design Engineers, and key stakeholders within R&D in developing innovative products. You will focus on the structural aspect of the development process and strengthen our understanding of interfaces in our products and which parameters has the biggest impact on product performance. In some cases, the Mechanical Design Engineers will provide you with designs to assess and optimize, but in other cases, we build models proactively to leverage a fundamental understanding of products and processes to relevant stakeholders. We take a practical approach to problem-solving, e.g., using simplified linear models to optimization and decision-making in the early design phase, while non-linear models and interactions come into play in detailed studies of product performance. In all our work, testing and improving predictions and methods are crucial.

Communicating your findings in a simple and actionable manner are vital to succeeding in the job. Our strategy for Product Design & Engineering strongly focuses on simulation, and we want to expand our capabilities to an even higher level and use numerical analysis more actively in developing new products. As a Mechanical Simulation Engineer you will play a part in defining and implementing our strategy for the Simulation team in the coming years.

Your key responsibilities are:

  • Provide insight into interactions of the key parameters identified together with stakeholders
  • Conduct both simple and advanced parameter analysis as input to various development projects.
  • Present data-driven design recommendations for the development projects based on your analysis.
  • Take part in the future development of the internal processes in both the Simulation and Mechanical team.
  • Be an integral part of building our model and material library.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the job possesses the following qualifications:

  • Skills within simulations using the finite element method with 0-3 years of experience.
  • Master of Science in Engineering or Natural Sciences with specialization in numerical analysis of complex problems.
  • Knowledge of structural simulations and knowledge about one of the commonly used finite element software.
  • knowledge of development processes.
  • Experience with interdisciplinary teamwork.

You most likely have a background as a mechanical engineer with experience within numerical simulation. We produce products in the millions and early attention to details has a great business impact. We value honesty and open feedback and are looking for an ambitious team player.
