Head of Project Management Office in Innovation Portfolio Management

Are you an experienced PMO leader who can operate confidently at both the strategic and operational level? Are you motivated by building strong teams, scalable tools and processes, and decision‑ready insights—and by challenging the status quo through strong stakeholder leadership?

As Head of the PMO, you will lead the PMO capability as an integral part of the Innovation Portfolio Management leadership team. The role is both hands on and strategic as you will be responsible for the data collection and quality, processes, tools, and standards that enable effective project, program, and portfolio management across R&D. You will be supporting project and portfolio governance and working close to business decisions. You and your small team will furthermore establish and drive a new R&D Performance Management Process to secure clear objectives, planning and impact follow up of initiatives across the wider RD organisation.

Join Innovation Portfolio Management within R&D
Joining our Innovation Portfolio Management (IPM) team in Humlebæk, you and your PMO team will work closely with Portfolio Directors, project and program managers as well as a broad set of stakeholders across R&D and supporting functions.

As Head of the PMO, you will be a member of the IPM leadership team, contributing to strategic discussions, portfolio direction, and continuous improvement of how we manage innovation investments. You will report directly to the VP of Innovation Portfolio Management and play a central role in shaping the PMO agenda across Innovation.
“Our innovation portfolio is growing and becoming increasingly complex, spanning multiple business areas. We are therefore strengthening our PMO leadership to ensure that our processes, tools, and insights support both strong execution and high‑quality decision‑making at portfolio level,” explains Morten Ølgaard, VP of Innovation Portfolio Management.

Help challenge our current thinking
At Coloplast, we have a long history of bringing innovation to people with intimate healthcare needs. Strong project, program, and portfolio management capabilities are a key driver in managing this innovation effectively.
As Head of the PMO, you will lead initiatives to design, improve, and scale PMO processes and tools, ensuring that we can continue to manage a growing and increasingly complex innovation portfolio efficiently. We value diversity of thought and are looking for a leader who can challenge existing ways of working and help take us forward, based on proven experience and competences from similar held positions.
Working with senior stakeholders across R&D and supporting functions, you and your team will help turn data into actionable insights that inform critical decisions—such as project intake, prioritization, portfolio reviews, resource allocation, and financial forecasting.

Your key responsibilities include:
•    Lead and develop a small PMO team (currently 2 people), setting priorities and guiding ways of working
•    Continuously improve and oversee project, program, and portfolio management processes and tools including providing training for PM’s across R&D functions
•    Together with your team, you will manage resource allocation and financial forecasting processes
•    Build, manage and translate complex data into clear insights for decision-makers
•    Facilitate and improve current Portfolio Review process and format.
•    Establish and facilitate a new RD Performance Management Process.

A strong PMO leader with strategic and operational experience
First and foremost, you are a strong PMO leader with excellent analytical skills. When you present insights, stakeholders trust the data and the conclusions drawn from it.
You have extensive experience running a PMO in an organization with a complex portfolio across multiple business areas, and you are comfortable working both strategically and operationally—from shaping portfolio‑level governance and leadership decisions to ensuring that PMO processes and tools work effectively in practice.
You understand the project, program, and portfolio management disciplines in depth and have spent your career practicing, building, improving, and scaling PMO capabilities.

You also have:
Proven experience leading people and developing a small specialist team.
A strong understanding of change management in complex, cross‑functional environments.
Strong IT and analytics skills, including Power BI, Excel, Power Apps, Copilot, and project and portfolio management tools.
The ideal candidate has experience as a hands-on project manager.
