In this role, you will directly contribute to this purpose by ensuring that the mechanical engineering function delivers innovative and reliable solutions.
We currently focus on combining innovative solutions with robust design, securing that the quality of the solution supports Design for Manufacturing and increasing demand for more sustainable options.
The position
As Head of Mechanical Engineering in Product Design & Engineering, you will be leading one of two Mechanical Engineering teams. You will be setting the direction and strengthening the Mechanical Engineering function together with your peers. Reporting to the Director of Mechanical Engineering, your position spans widely from developing the overall mechanical engineering function to securing the growth and development of both individual team members as well as the capabilities of the entire team. By doing so, we will collectively deliver on our current projects and our future pipeline - and you will be at the forefront of enabling this.
You will be leading a team of 8-10 Mechanical Engineers, who as a team are primarily responsible for delivering robust mechanical solutions on our innovation-projects. The team members are professional and passionate, representing a wide diversity in terms of level of experience, nationality and age.
As Head of Mechanical Engineering, you will also be an integral part of the extended leadership team within Product Design and Engineering. Here you will have access to an experienced and professional network for sparing and input.
Your areas of responsibilities will further cover:
- Accountability for the robustness of the mechanical design of products
- Foster a team culture of individual empowerment and strong collaboration, to ensure better and more innovative solutions
- Building strong and collaborative relationships with your peers in Mechanical Engineering, as well as other internal/external stakeholders
- Being accountable for planning and executing the technical deliverables in the projects covered by mechanical engineering
- Prioritizing critical tasks and assigning work accordingly
We imagine that you have:
- A relevant master’s degree within, e.g., mechanical engineering or related field
- Leadership experience – preferably with leading specialists
- Experience leading a functional area, including experience developing and implementing strategies as well as cultural changes
- Experience with ideation processes and with fostering a creative culture
- A solid understanding of mechanical designs in the context of high-volume manufacturing
- Experience with development of medical devices, e.g., with ISO 13485 or experience working in a regulated industry
- English proficiency, both written and oral
