Associate R&D Scientist - Material Development & Biomedical Interactions
Humlebæk, DK

Are you ready to take the first steps in your career and gain all-round knowledge of and experience with polymer materials and biomedical interaction?
This is your chance to take up a graduate position specifically designed to develop your talent. We call it our 2-year Early Career Position. You will obtain both theoretical and hands-on experience in 2 international teams, working closely together to make a difference to people with intimate health care needs. After this period, we will guide you on how to make your next career step
Learn from experts in their field
At our HQ in Humlebæk, you will join our Adhesive & Sensor Technologies team of 12 colleagues your first year and our Preclinical team, consisting of 19 colleagues, your second year. Our two teams work closely together to develop the best products within Continence Care, Ostomy Care, Bowel Care, and Advanced wound dressing.
We pride ourselves on having a strong commitment to caring for each other, and we are looking forward to welcoming you into our community.
”Both teams are very international and diverse. We have a strong tradition for knowledge sharing, and you will learn from colleagues with a high degree of expertise,” says Lotte Klein, Head of Adhesive and Sensor Technologies.
2 years of learning – combining theory and hands-on tasks
You will spend your first year working on the formulation of pressure sensitive adhesives and material properties. Here, you will get to develop and test your own adhesive formulation. In the second year you will transfer to the Pre-Clinical department where you will learn what to take into consideration when evaluating skin adhesives in the biomedical interface, both in lab setting but also in clinical setting.
Specifically, during your 2 years, you will:
• Study literature on polymer materials and skin health
• Carry out pre-testing of different materials in lab settings
• Develop new adhesive recipes with different formulations
• Do lab testing of adhesion and moisture-handling performance of the new adhesive recipes
• Carry out preclinical lab testing of new adhesive recipes, e.g. on pig skin
• Do clinical testing of new recipes on healthy volunteers
“Be ready to learn a lot and develop your skills as we guide you through theory as well as hands-on tasks. It’ll give you a good idea of the different ways of working – and the experience you need to make choices for your career going forward,” explains Lene Feldskov, Director of Pre-Clinical.
Have you recently graduated as a bio/chemical/polymer/medical engineer/scientist?
In this role, you need to be ready to work in a structured and data driven manner, allowing you to document your work. We have a culture where trial and error are a part of the way we work, so it is important that you are curious, ready to learn, and not afraid to try new things. Finally, we imagine that you:
• Have recently graduated as a bio/chemical/polymer/medical engineer/scientist
• Are interested in materials/polymer development, and biomedical interface
• Want to expand your knowledge and experience within performance testing, surface chemistry, skin properties, enzymes, bacteria, and spectroscopic methods (FTIR, Raman, AFM)
• Are fluent in English
