The role

Reporting to the Head of Training, this role is responsible for Coaching and Training Territory Managers and Representatives within the Continence and Ostomy Sales teams.  The role coordinates all of the induction and learning for new recruits in these areas and then supports ongoing training of relevant induction training modules with appropriate coaching and development thereafter.


The purpose of this position is to drive and embed sales excellence through our culture of coaching and training, to support and develop our sales teams to perform at their best, win new business and best partner with our existing customers, thus supporting the delivery of our Annual Business Plan. Our goal is to have the most skilled, competent and accomplished industry leading sales force in our markets.


The role covers the North Region and will incorporate a lot of travel and will therefore include around 15 days a month in the field including attendance at head office and regional and national meetings.


The Key Responsibilities of our Field Sales Coach and Trainers are to:

  • Provide high quality coaching. Identifying areas of strength and development via observing sales calls and using existing sales and competency frameworks to determine focus areas that impact in-call effectiveness
  • Give accurate, timely and objective feedback (both verbal and written) that leaves the coachee clear, focussed and motivated to achieve their developmental goals
  • Document and monitor coachee progression
  • Align closely with Regional Business Leaders to ensure there are coordinated development plans that result in positive outcomes
  • Identify and deliver in field sales training in relation to skills practise and business acumen against competencies
  • Support the development plan of new Territory Managers 
  • Work with the leadership team as a business partner to identify infield coaching, training needs and business gaps
  • Proactively look for opportunities to improve selling skills, delivering identified infield training and support when needed, making recommendations for development based on outcomes of infield coaching and training interventions
  • Co-ordination and training of relevant induction modules, including key Partnership Selling modules for OC/CC TM’s within in the Continence and Ostomy Sales Teams
  • Regularly share progress and market intelligence with key stakeholders and provide regular reporting as required
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of coaching and training interventions, responding proactively to opportunities and sharing progress with key stakeholders
  • Stay up to date on best business practices to help sales teams develop the best overall commercial skills
  • Provide training support at National and Regional Sales Meetings

Experience and knowledge required:

  • Proven experience and success in sales training within the pharmaceutical and/or MedTech and Medical Devices industry
  • Experience of developing training materials and adult learning
  • Facilitation and training delivery experience
  • Deep understanding of the sales call process & strong business acumen
  • Understand the principles and ethos of adult learning
  • Proven Experience and success of Coaching would be an advantage
  • Strong product knowledge with experience of working with clinical and medical data
  • Degree or other equivalent higher education (preferred)
  • Strong IT Skills, PPT, Excel, Teams, Word, Power BI
  • Fluent in written and verbal English
  • Full UK driving licence
