Your Mission

The IT/OT Software Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software solutions that support both business processes and operational (OT) environments at FEL. This role combines hands-on software development with IT and OT support activities, contributing directly to the stability, efficiency, and continuous improvement of daily manufacturing operations.

 

The position provides end-user and application support through phone, email, remote access, and on-site assistance, ensuring prompt restoration of normal IT and software services in alignment with global IT policies, standards, guidelines, and approved support tools.

 

In addition, the Software Engineer contributes to the implementation of local and global IT and OT projects, ensuring that business, security, and compliance requirements are met. This includes documenting software solutions, code changes, system configurations, and project implementations according to Global IT standards.

 

The role also supports the installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware, software, and peripheral equipment when required, following established design, security, and installation guidelines. Collaboration within the IT & OT team is essential, as well as effective task prioritization and workflow organization to meet operational and project-related demands.

 

Your areas of responsibility 

  • Design, develop, maintain, and improve software solutions to support business and operational needs, in close collaboration with internal stakeholders.
  • Develop applications, tools, scripts, and integrations prioritized by IT, OT, and business requirements.
  • Maintain and improve existing applications, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security.
  • Work with databases (MS SQL) to design efficient data models, queries, and integrations.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation for developed solutions.
  • Actively participate in local and global IT and OT projects, ensuring alignment with global IT strategy and standards.
  • Support and integrate software solutions within IT and OT environments, including industrial and production-related systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot application, system, or infrastructure-related issues, implementing corrective actions or escalating to Global IT when required.
  • Provide day-to-day IT support for users at FEL, creating and resolving incidents and requests in the Global IT Service Management tool in line with SLAs.
  • Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance activities with minimal disruption to operations.
  • Ensure security, data privacy, and compliance of IT systems according to best practices and corporate policies.
  • Coordinate and support external IT service providers, ensuring alignment with internal IT goals.
  • Create, maintain, and update documentation, including procedures, troubleshooting guides, and system documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records of incidents, repairs, fixes, maintenance activities, and changes.
  • Support Global IT standards, guidelines, and policies, ensuring compliance at local level.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of IT and OT processes in cooperation with Global IT.
  • Stay updated on new implementations, documentation, and process changes within Global IT Operations.
  • Communicate relevant IT/OT and software-related information clearly to local business teams.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, IT/OT teams, and external partners at both local and global levels.
  • Proactively identify inefficiencies or improvement opportunities in systems and processes and report them to IT management
  • Ensure all safety guidelines and procedures are followed during daily activities.
  • Take responsibility for tasks not directly related to Operational Excellence, escalating to IT management when necessary.

What is required from you 

  • Trackable experience in software development.
  • Technical course or degree in Software Development, IT Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics, or a related field.
  • Knowledge in IT support.
  • Solid experience with .NET development for web.
  • Experience with MS SQL (queries, schema design, performance basics).
  • Good communication skills in Portuguese, both written and spoken.
  • Solid understanding of IT infrastructure, computer systems, networks, and operating systems.
  • Basic understanding of OT environments and industrial systems is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of operating system configuration and management.
  • Understanding of IT security and data privacy principles (certifications are a plus).
  • Familiarity with IT Service Management tools and processes (ITIL knowledge/training is a plus).
  • Strong customer service mindset with focus on user experience.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
  • Professional, open-minded, and collaborative approach across all organizational levels.
  • Team player with a structured, systematic, and self-managed way of working.
  • Confident in engaging with the business to address issues and drive continuous improvements.
