Continuous Improvement Engineer

The Continuous Improvement Engineer supports the Continuous Improvement team at Coloplast Manufacturing Portugal (CMPT), by identifying, analyzing, and implementing initiatives that improve operational efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance process performance.
This position is intended for a professional with 3 to 5 years of industry experience, preferably in a manufacturing or operational environment with a strong focus on continuous improvement. The role requires a solid understanding of production principles and process improvements methodologies, combined with strong analytical capabilities, effective communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive sustainable improvements.
Major areas of accountability
- Support the identification and implementation of process improvement opportunities across operational areas.
- Participate actively in the development of tools for analysis, tracking, and reporting operational data.
- Collect and analyze data to support decision-making and improvement initiatives.
- Create and maintain dashboards and reports in Power BI.
- Participate in Lean activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Contribute to standardization, documentation, and sustainability of improved processes.
- Preparation and execution of workshops, improvement events, and root cause analysis activities.
Essential qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of industry experience, preferably in a manufacturing or operational environment with a strong focus on continuous improvement.
- Solid understanding of continuous improvement methodologies and tools.
- Knowledge of Lean principles, Six Sigma, and time and motion studies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proactive, organized, and detail-oriented approach.
- Extensive knowledge of relevant software applications (e.g., MS Office, Power BI)
- High level proficiency in oral and written English
Preferred qualifications
- Exposure to regulated industries such as medical devices, pharmaceutical, or similar manufacturing environments.
- Practical experience with Lean tools such as 5S, Kaizen, VSM, SMED, standard work, or OEE
- Experience in working in MES software production environment (Traksys would be valued)
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent training.
- Experience supporting cross-functional improvement projects.
- Knowledge of ERP “way of work” (Oracle E1 is a plus)
Physical or other job requirements
- Ability to work in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
- Frequent presence on the shop floor or production areas.
- Ability to collaborate across different shifts or departments.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- May require short-term occasional travels to Hungary (less than 20days/ year)
