Vision System Specialist Technician

 We are looking a the Vision System Specialist technician is responsible of providing support in different Value Streams, Improvements, and Operations Development department tasks, performs all types of changes in Vision Systems, adjustments and integrations with other systems and all types of PLCs.

It will work closely with the Improvements Engineer and other Specialists to identify the machine improvement opportunities in areas as quality, cost, performance, and preventive and predictive maintenance.



You will be a part of a growing Operations Development team, as Coloplast is in the process of establishing a world-class manufacturing site in Cartago, Costa Rica. The ideal candidate is a reliable and competent professional, preferable with experience in manufacturing and medical device industry. Initially, you will be supporting the Cartago site, and have a close collaboration with Hungary and Denmark.


You will report to Head of Operations Developments Coloplast Costa Rica Volume Manufacturing Site, Cartago. 


Task & Responsabilities


  • Strong knowledge in Vision Systems as Cognex and Image House
  • Able to read electrical diagrams using the PC Schematics software
  • Proper coordination between departments to make sure all improvement tasks will not interfere with the regular production.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors
  • Develop machine improvement initiatives to increase operational efficiency and productivity.
  • Identify and solve vision system issues and performs the parameters change
  • Keep track of all changes to the Vision System and PLC programs, versions, dates and impacts
  • Performs and propose maintenance routines of the vision system and execute them easily.
  • Propose the spare parts list of the Vision System.
  • Able to use the software Vision Pro or Checker or Image house
  • Able to perform the upgrade of obsolete components on a mechanical system.
  • Performs the backup of the vision systems
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Will work closely with Operator for the first machine run.
  • Will work closely with the Technical Operator for the first machine run.
  • Will have to request spare parts and raw material for machine tryouts/run in.
  • Solve any quality related issue
  • Able to review and discuss quality related issues
  • Able to solve any machine related issues that cannot be handled by the immediate Production Group.
  • Align on daily activities and communicate dismantling/assembly completion percentage and communicate any other transfer related aspect.
  • Coordinate or ask for support on any IT related aspects.
  • Performing their job in compliance with the guidelines given
  • Drawing attention to the manager to any difficulties in understanding or following the guidelines
  • Drawing attention to inefficiency of the system





Have relevant Technical education within mechanical and/or electrical area.

  • Have 1-2 years of work experience in related positions
  • Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Have strong Teamwork abilities and communication skills
  • Be able to read and interpret technical drawings (electrical, mechanical)
  • Be able to share knowledge onto other team members
  • Be able to read, analyze, interpret and implement department procedures.
  • Shown Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Show understanding of PLC programming knowledge in Allen Bradley or Omron or Siemens
  • Show understanding of Cognex Vision System
  • Live and reflect the values of closeness, passion, respect and responsibility.
  • Lead by example and demonstrate professionalism
  • Able to work other shifts and overtime to complete work as needed.
  • English Level: B2 – Upper - Intermediate level (base on the scale of the Common European Framework)
  • Knowledge of Medical Industry machinery and production processes.
  • Experience on regulated industries
  • Knowledge in PC Schematics, Factory Talk View, iFix, NB Omron Simatic Touch is a plus.
  • Willing to be on call to support production needs
  • Shown Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
