This role requires an experienced People & Culture leader who is comfortable operating in a complex, matrixed multinational environment with multiple business units and shared functions.

The Director, People & Culture Great China serves as a trusted advisor to the Greater China Leadership Team, aligning people, organizational and talent strategies with business priorities to enable sustainable growth and performance. The role translates business strategy into workforce strategy, organizational effectiveness initiatives and talent decisions across Greater China, including commercial businesses and the distribution center.

The incumbent is responsible for ensuring the organization has the capabilities, structure, leadership and culture required to deliver business results today while building readiness for the future. This includes workforce planning, talent management, succession planning, organizational design, leadership development and employee engagement across the employee lifecycle.

Success in this role requires strong business and commercial acumen, exceptional stakeholder management skills, and the ability to influence senior leaders across matrix structures while balancing local business priorities with global expectations. The role is a key member of both the Greater China Leadership Team and the People & Culture Leadership Team within Chronic Care Commercial

Strategic Business Partnership

·       Act as the trusted People & Culture partner to the Greater China Leadership Team, providing counsel on business strategy, organizational effectiveness and workforce decisions.

·       Align local People & Culture priorities with global strategies while addressing Greater China business needs.

·       Contribute actively to business planning and long-term workforce strategy discussions as a member of the Greater China Leadership Team.

·       Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to support organizational health, business performance and future capability requirements.

Organizational Effectiveness & Transformation

·       Lead organizational design initiatives that support growth, efficiency, scalability and business performance.

·       Drive transformation programs including organizational restructuring, capability shifts and change management initiatives.

·       Strengthen cross-functional collaboration and optimize organizational interfaces across business units and functions.

·       Support leaders in navigating matrix environments, organizational complexity and governance structures to improve alignment and execution.

Talent, Workforce Planning & Leadership Development

·       Lead strategic workforce planning to ensure critical capabilities are available to meet current and future business needs.

·       Drive talent management, succession planning and leadership development processes across Greater China.

·       Develop robust strategies for attracting, onboarding, developing, engaging and retaining key talent.

·       Build leadership capability through targeted development initiatives and talent pipelines.

Governance, Compliance & Employee Relations

·       Oversee People & Culture governance across Greater China, ensuring compliance with local employment legislation and company policies.

·       Manage employee relations matters with consistency, fairness and appropriate risk management.

·       Ensure effective People & Culture processes, controls and audit readiness across the organization.

Leadership

·       Lead, coach and develop the People & Culture team to ensure a high-performing and engaged function.

·       Co-own the global Chronic Care Commercial People & Culture agenda as a member of the People & Culture Leadership Team.

·       Bachelor's degree or above in a relevant discipline.

·       15+ years of progressive HR leadership experience supporting large, complex multinational organizations across multiple business units, functions and geographies.

·       Experience within MedTech, Medical Device, Healthcare or another highly regulated multinational industry is strongly preferred.

·       Ability to serve as a strategic advisor to General Managers, contributing meaningfully beyond functional HR topics into broader business strategy and organizational performance.

·       Demonstrated success developing workforce strategies across diverse employee populations and business models.

·       Resilient, adaptable and comfortable operating through ambiguity, organizational change and competing priorities.

·       Strong commercial and business acumen with the ability to translate business strategy into organizational capability, workforce decisions and business performance outcomes.

·       Proven success influencing senior leaders without direct authority in complex matrix organizations.

·       Demonstrated ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments with diplomacy, sound judgment and executive presence.

·       Strong understanding of the China labor market, employment legislation and HR best practices.

·       Proven experience driving organizational transformation, change management and leadership effectiveness initiatives.

·       Expertise in strategic workforce planning, talent management and succession planning.

·       Strong analytical capability and experience using workforce metrics and business insights to support decision making.

·       Excellent communication skills in both English and Mandarin with strong multicultural awareness and a global mindset.

·       Ability to balance strategic leadership with operational execution in a fast-paced and evolving business environment.
